VERTIGO, A TRANSITIONAL LOSS OF EQUILIBRIUM

DESCRIPTION OF THE PATHOLOGY

Vertigo is a feeling of giddiness, a sensation of whirling, a sort of tendency to fall, accompanied by fits of vacillation, by staggering, tottering and loss of equilibrium. There are also circulatory disturbances, state of anxious agitation and neurovegetative distony. In some cases, unless there is a support available nearby, the subject has also a fall, normally lateral in the so-called labyrinth vertigo. With vertigo there is also the complication of aerophobia, a sort of obsession about the altitude, which causes the so called altitude-vertigo.

ASSOCIATED CONDITIONS

Associated conditions are atherosclerosis, hypertension and consequent depressive changes, hysteria, pallor, a cardiac slow-down, a fall of blood-flow to the brain. Vertigo can be considered a condition quite similar to absence (see my article “Assenze e sincopi neuromediate”, dated 13/7/10), where there can be in the patient a miss of attention and a loss of conscience.

IMPORTANT IS TO AVOID DANGEROUS FALLS

Paradoxically, this kind of disease is not that serious, apart from the disturbing and embarrassing effects which it obviously brings. In general, nothing too bad is going to happen, unless some injuries caused by the eventual fall.

DEFENSIVE STRATEGIES

The best thing to do in these situations is to forecast the incoming arrival of the crisis, to detect on time through our sensitive antennas the signs of the physiological drop. At that point you can simply lay down on a bench or on the ground, with bent knees, deep breaths, relaxing the arm and legs muscles, waiting twenty minutes that the critical moment goes away. You can also lean against a wall, or against a tree. Or you may also sit down on a chair, if there is one in the vicinity.

ALL DISEASES ARE NOTHING ELSE THAN BLOOD INTOXICATION

The causative factors are to be searched among the wrong life-styles, and also in the critical conditions of the places where the patient lives. We are surely in presence of food excesses. In presence of wrong foods, as indigestible and putrefactive animal proteins. In presence of cooked and devitalized substances. In presence of unhealthy drinks which go from alcoholics to nerve-drinks as coffee and tea, to gassed and artificially sweetened drinks. But other things are not innocent at all, and we mean cigarette smoke (active and passive), air pollution, respiratory deficiencies (people do not know yet how to breath), with carbo-monoxide and vitiated air inhaled too frequently in the lungs.

THE CRITICAL STATE OF HEALTH

A complication is represented by the critical state of health, which is limiting the assimilative functions of his intestine and include situations of bacterial dysbiosis (excess of putrefactive bacteria from animal proteins and lack of symbiotic saprophyte bacteria from vegetable foods), situations of constipation and of poor blood-fluidity. Furthermore, digestive problems have always got a direct impact on the heart, as the internal pressure, caused by intestinal rising gas, tends to choke and impede the cardiac activity in the brain area.

PANTOTHENIC ACID AND TRACE MINERALS

One of the major lacks in terms of micro-nutrients is the one of pantothenic acid or vitamin B5, which is contained in wheat germ, in whole cereals (particularly in black and wild rice and in rolled oats), in legumes and almonds. There is also a scarcity of minerals as iron, magnesium, molybdenum, lithium, and the best way to correct and improve the situation is to adopt a vegan and raw diet with abundance of all possible fruits (fresh and dried), but without forgetting green leaves (watercress, cabbage, chicory, lettuce, fennel, artichokes, celery, onion) and roots (potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, radish, Jerusalem artichokes, ginger roots).

A DRASTIC BEHAVIOURAL CHANGEMENT

It is too obvious that, in order to maximize the use of these foods, a dramatic change of diet is needed, from the heavy, fatty, hyper-protein food, to the light, natural, fresh and innocent one. Also because the absurd aliments and the wrong drinks are acting as real thieves. They are only robbing precious space to the right and indispensable substances badly needed by the patient. In addition, other things are needed. Stop to smoke, stop to all drugs and medicines, regular respiratory exercises, muscular and aerobic training, sun exposure, sufficient rest and sleep, right thinking and motivated life.

THE BASIC IMPORTANCE OF A REVITALIZING DIET

A diet without salt and sugar is badly needed. Lots of natural vitamins and minerals from fruits and plants have to be included, especially vitamins A, C, E and B1, B2. B3 and the already mentioned B5, with a rich daily supply of biologic water, that special sweet and tasty juice that only fresh fruits and raw veggies can guarantee. All these nutrients can be found in integral cereals (buckwheat, millet, quinoa, dark rice, maize, rolled oats, sunflower, flaxseed, sesame), in dry fruits (almonds, pine-nuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, etc), in the various legumes. Very useful also the wild vegetables, as dandelion and watercress.
